Me, like many others have the dredged flu and I am feeling shite. My head is going to boil and my eyeballs hurt when I move them......REALLY.
I guess that's what you get when you sleep with a sick 5 year old two nights in a row.
I have dragged myself to work as there is some testing that has to be done and unfortunately I'm the only one who know how to do it but I intend to go straight to bed when I get home and stay there until maybe Saturday.......LOL
I, of course, have a very busy weekend coming up with Reece having a friend for a sleep over on Saturday then Adam's birthday on Sunday and my girlfriends daughter wants me to go shopping with her for her birthday Sunday afternoon.
Ok I'm going now as my fingers hurt typing.......god I'm pathetic!
Catch ya next week.

Weigh in
Lost: 200 grams
Total loss: 17.7kgs
Current weight: 92.6kgs
Wonders will never cease, I have been losing (and gaining) weight for years and I still can't work out how it all works.
So I'm very happy with that and I do actually have a bit of motivation back because I want to build on that rather than have it go back on again.
So anyway, I went to the supermarket after weigh in and got most of what I needed to make Adam's birthday cake (a train engine thing) but most of the lollies they tell you to get, you can't so I am just getting stuff that will do (hopefully). Also got the goodie bags (have lots of chocolate and lollies for those thanks to hubby the cholocate man) and will just get 1 or 2 other things to go in them. So I think I'm all ready to go for Sunday apart from getting Adam a present. I have a book for him (he loves his books) but that's all and for the life of me I can't think what else to get (such an 'in tune' Mum...LOL). I'm sure he will get more than enough presents off other people so I might wait and see.
I'll take a photo of the cake when it is done and a photo of the picture in the book so you will all be able to see what it REALLY should look like.......LMAO.

Another weekend bites the dust
What a busy girl I've been..............gotta love that.
Friday after work I went and had the ole monobrow removed.
Had friends around for a visit but I didn't touch any wine as I was saving myself for the following night.
Saturday consisted of soccer with Reece and I, Adam and Andrew have the common cold but because they are men, the world is ending *wink*.
Got home and tended to said boy and man and then off I went to get my hair cut, coloured and straightened (yes you can straighten straight hair), supermarket then home to tend to sick males and unfortunately our babysitter (Dad) was also sick with the same cold so we cancelled dinner out (pre-show) and got the kids bathed, fed, jammies and bed before Dad came in. Went and picked up our friends, downed a wine in record time just as the cab turned up. Met up with Helena and Craig (Helena looked stunning) and downed a bottle (or more) of wine while boogying to THE BEAT GIRLS!!!!
AND even though there were 4 or 5 shakers on the table, myself (and Helena) didn't touch them which my head thanked me for the next morning.
Sunday - stayed in bed until just before 9am BONUS!!! and I didn't mind that I had 2 little boys jumping all over me because my bed was warm and cosy. A friend turned up to take Reece out for the day with his kids, Andrew went to golf (never too sick for golf!), so Adam and I had a lovely day playing together and having some one on one time which doesn't happen very often.
I had 4 for dinner (friends movings away so it was a sort of farewell dinner) and adding that to our 3 adults and 2 kids in my little house, it was a very squashed noisy evening. Had a cheese and nibble board for entree (I didn't have any) and then a roast chicken with baked potato, pumpkin, parsnip, carrot and Kumera (sweet potato) which a HUGE vegetable bake. Dessert consisted of ice cream, jelly, mini elclairs and cream puffs with hot fudge sauce (only ate 2 mini eclairs).
Collapsed into bed about 10.30pm...............
Considering the social events we had on the weekend, (apart from the bowl of late night chips we all shared at the Cossie after the Beat Girls show) I think I did OK. I made sure I drank lots of water on the weekend so I'll wait and see what the results are on Tuesday night.

Back at work......YAY!
OK I LOVE my kids more than anything else in the world but when they are sick.....argh!!!!!
My baby Adam has a bad cold which keeps triggering his asthma so I stayed home with him yesterday (didn't have a choice really as he was stuck to me) and all he wanted to do was snuggle up on my lap and watch cartoons. As it was a horribly cold day, I cranked up the woodburner and turned on the TV with a blankie over us and had big cuddles which he loved (and me too) BUT if I dared tried to go to the toilet or make a coffee - World War III broke out. He would get that upset that he would have a coughing fit that would trigger his asthma so I ended up getting absolutely nothing done around the house (dinner, cleaning etc) and was busting to go to the loo most of the day..........LOL.
Glad to say he is feeling much better today so we have sent him back to daycare with a bag for his asthma medicine and cough medicine etc, I hope he's OK.
I do feel like I'm getting a break being back at work as I haven't slept well the last 2 nights (due to wee Adam) and there isn't too much work backed up with is a bonus.
Right weigh in............
Gain: 100g
Current weight: 92.8kgs
Total loss: 17.5kg
No real excuse for that apart from I haven't exercised and my eating could have been a bit better...............there's always next week *shrug*.
Here are the invites I made up for Adam's birthday, the quality isn't 100% but you get the picture. There is also a magnet on the back so people can stick them to their fridges...........clever tart that I am.
Since I've had a day off work, I'd better get back to it.....bye

YAWN
I read something on Teresa’s blog that really describe’s me:
“When you stop pushing to keep things going, there is an instant feeling of fatigue”
That’s totally me, I seem to be on the go from 5.55am in the morning until I get to be which is somewhere between 9.30pm and 11pm depending on what I’m doing (ie. Dishes, lunches etc) which means I am on the go for over 15.5 hours a day…..man no wonder I get exhausted sometimes. This time is sometimes extended when I have sick or unsettled kids like last night. I had Adam in our room 4 times during the night coughing which woke him and his brother up (Reece only came in once thankfully) and of course they come to Mummy because Daddy just tells them to go back to bed (ha, if only it was that easy!).
So basically I’m tired but I know if I slow down it will hit me and I won’t be able to get back into gear which just isn’t an option.
I really wish I had enough money to survive at home until the kids were a bit older, then I could try to get on top of things. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to get done what I want done.
A perfect way to describe my life at the moment is, I feel I am standing with a huge rubber band around me and everyone (kids, husband, school, work etc) has a piece and they are all pulling on their piece of rubber band at the same time and I don’t have a piece for myself …………does that make sense?
Can you tell I’m tired……………LOL
I hate winter and the usual round of colds and coughs etc, everyone I come across at the moment isn’t well.
I’m hoping to get to Hydro tonight but Reece’s little mate Jacob has a seizure of some kind at school yesterday Reece was playing with him at the time it happened and seen it close up and freaked out a bit and wants to go and see him a.s.a.p, so if his Mum says its OK we will go to either the hospital or their house tonight.
So I’m hoping to get to WW and Hydro tonight but it’s a ‘wait and see’ at the moment because I really need to put Reece’s mind at rest about his mate.
Ok I’ve finished rambling on…….sorry guys.
Be back tomorrow :)

Fingers crossed and all that
I'm all better (touch wood), cold - gone, conjunctivities - gone, sore throat - gone, long may it continue. I reckon I've had MORE than enough sickness this year and I'm quite happy now NOT to catch anything else!
I had a great weekend, Friday night was very quite and I got home and built a fire and we watched TV before I went to bed early.
Saturday - Soccer (my boy got player of the day again - so proud!) and then I took one of the little boys home with me and we again built a fire and the 3 boys played nice most of the time. We had a farewell dinner to go to that night so I dropped the little fella off on our way and then went onto the 'do' where I was the driver, so didn't drink. Got home around 11.15pm.......not too shabby.
Sunday - Housework, washing and then I took the boys to the Warehouse so I could get some more bits and pieces for Adam's invitation (which I made - I'll post a photo tomorrow) and ended up getting 2 exercise books, heaps and heaps of stickers and a stamp pad set thingie all for about $12.00 and it kept them busy most of the afternoon.....YAY, I love the Warehouse!
All in all a busy weekend but relaxing at the same time.
My eating was excellent and my water and exercise was terrible.
I noticed on the weekend that my size 16 jeans are getting rather loose.......OMG!
I have a size 14 that I've always needed to lay on the bed to do up (you know what I mean!!!!) so I got them out to try and I didn't even have to breath in, they did up........gobsmacked! My work pants are still size 16 - 18 as my jeans are stretchy but I don't care.
Feeling great, just need to work on that exercise (story of my life).

I'm cracking up I tell ya!
I have lost my voice...........stop laughing, you sound like my kids!
I have had a sore throat for a couple of days but it hasn't come to anything so I have ignored it and last night while sitting there entertaining a friend for dinner it just disappeared.
I was getting a bit croaky after work and when Pam turned up she commented on it ("love the new sexy voice") but within 2 hours it was gone completely.
It is hard enough trying to get my husband and kids to listen to me when I have a voice but now........................
So I am coughing every 30 seconds or so, have a sore throat and oh yeah, my top lip is COVERED in coldsores *pathetic sigh*.
Andrew's words of wisdom this morning was "stay home"???? What's that going to do, I can still work without talking (but the few of you that know me will know how HARD that will be....LOL).
While I'm bitching, here's another thing.
FREE ECE (effective 1/7/07) which is something the Ministry of Education is bringing in for all 3 & 4 your olds which gives parents 20 hours free childcare..............R U B B I S H !!!
Because our daycare centre new this was coming they decided to put their fee's up $20 a week last week, then told us how much we would be saving with the free ece and also told us that effective of 1/7/07 they are also inflicting another $10.00 fee for all 3 & 4 year olds at the centre to cover costs so they can still provide the same level of care for the kids........WTF!
So basically we were paying $181.50 and our new fee will be $120.00 which looks like it is a $61.50 saving (it should have been a $109.00 before they put on their extra on) but then Reece's after school care programme have just put his fee's up an extra $20.00 per week. Which means that in actually fact we are saving $41.50 which I suppose is still something but we THOUGHT we would be saving around $100.00......nothing is ever black and white these days.
Moving on
As I mentioned earlier I had a friend and her kids over for dinner last night and we decided to get pizza. The one I got (the godfather) I worked out was about 4 points a slice (thin crust) so I could have 3 as I had saved most of my points for the day because I new what we would have and that's exactly what I had, 3 slices.
In my past life, I could easily eat a whole pizza (8 slices) to myself on a cheese stuffed base with extra cheese so I was sooooooooo proud of myself for not going crazy. The only downfall to the meal was olives, I absolutely LOVE olives but they HATE me so I suffered all night with integestion (sp?) oh well I suppose it was a small price to pay for a yummy meal. I seriously can't remember the last time I ate pizza and I really enjoyed it but I don't feel the need to eat it again anytime soon.
I am just sitting here at my desk looking at my pump water bottle which I filled yesterday morning (1.25 litre) and it is still HALF FULL. I didn't even manage 700mls all day which is pathetic, I did have a about 500mls last night but that only equates to 1.2ltr all day -------- NOT A GREAT EFFORT.
I can see I'm going to be the butt of people's jokes today because the other lady I work with in our department keeps asking me things so I can answer her and then she cracks up (ha bloody ha) so I have just told her not to bother because I am not going to talk to her for the rest of the day. Small things amuse small minds!
Not a very positive post today I'm sorry but even though I sound totally pathetic, I'm in a great mood and don't look that pathetic......hahaha

Weigh in
Lost: 100g
Current weight: 92.7kg
Total loss: 17.6kgs
YAY another 100 grams bites the dust!
Even though I was going for 900g this week to put me into the 91's I am very happy as I DIDN'T stick to my exercise challenge I set myself (exercise everyday) and only completed 4/7 days (must work on that!).
Slowly but surely I say, at least I can record a 'lost' and not a 'gain', right moving on.
Met up with my sister after weigh in and we went and had a kebab at the little turkish place up the road and then carried on to Hydro. Nicki (our instructor) was in another bad mood (LOL) and tried out some new exercises which I am paying for this morning. My hips hurt (never had that before) and my shoulders but in a good way.
Weather report: Clear and crisp this morning in Wellington and about 8 degree's....brrrrrrr.
My girlfriend and her 2 kids (same age as mine) are coming for dinner tonight which will be excellent and tomorrow I'm going back to hydro (I seem to be missing Thursday's for some strange reason).

Chilly weekend
Brrrrrrrr it was C.O.L.D. in Wellington this weekend and we had the ole woodburner cranked up ALL weekend.
Saturday was Reece's soccer at 10am and even at that time it was still like ice outside, so we FROZE down at the park for an hour or so. He managed 2 goals this week and they also got their uniforms (finally) with 3 weeks to go.
Went home and the big boy went to golf so me and the kids and their friends 'put another log on the fire' and watched a couple of DVD's and coloured in. We had taken 1 of the boys from Reece's soccer team and his brother home with us which I thought was a really dumb idea at first (4 very active boys) but it turned out great because they all entertained each other. They got to go outdoors about 2pm but were only out there an hour and came back inside because it was too cold.
Me being the good little mother, I thought I would make them chocolate crackles so they could have them while they watched a DVD but only 1 (Adam my little vacuum cleaner) of them liked them????? Since when don't kids like chocolate crackles???
I palmed them off to their mother (who has 2 older girls) when she came for a coffee and to pick the kids up.
Saturday night was VERY quiet and hubby and I were in bed by 9.30pm (yep - party animals we're NOT) and Sunday consisted of us visiting some friends who have just had their 2nd daughter but only stayed an hour because they looked like death warmed up (oh the joys of a newborn) and Andrew headed to golf again (god he's got a good life) and me baking (banana cake) and ironing, cleaning the house and cooking dinner (indian marinaded chicken pieces with herbed potato's and a vegetable pie...yum).
So all in all B O R I N G but at least I got to build the kids a MASSIVE cubby house in their room (with the help of their bunks) which they have been harping me about doing and spending heaps of time with them just playing (somehow I never get enough quality time with them).
Food and water has been average at best over the weekend and re-reading my post its no wonder as all I have spoken about is food.....LOL
My 'exercise everyday' challenge went totally out the window and I managed to not do anything on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Back on track today.

Numeracy
Wow don't they do things differently since I was at school (1986)?
Was really interesting last night at Reece's school about how they teach Maths now.
Basically they don't even look at teaching the kids their times tables until about year 3 and everything is based around grouping, 'tidy' numbers (5, 10, 15, 20 etc) and learning different strategies rather than just learning one way (times tables) and writing it down. They play games to make it fun and the kids love it and learn to use their brains more (there's an idea!).....LOL
www.nzmaths.co.nz is a website they gave us to have a look at which explains it and under the 'family' jigsaw piece, is all about the different games you can help teach your kids.
Not much else to report.
Food was great yesterday even with chinese takeaways for dinner (saved enough points), I'm amazed at what I eat now which usually consists of a chicken chow mein or something with lots of vege's rather than sweet and sour pork or egg fu young etc.
Water was spot on (3 litres)
Exercise completed (lunchtime walk)
State of mind - Positive!
Hydro tonight - YAY and I have alread drank 1 litre of water this morning and it is only 9.08am.
Catch ya later.

Weigh in
Lost: 100g
Current weight: 92.8kg (back to same weight I was 3 weeks ago)
Total loss: 17.5kgs
I'll take it !!!!!!!!!!!
Even though I tried to be on track this week, I did have 2 meals out and drank (again) so I am quite happy with 100g (believe it or not).
I am fluffing around (as I usually do) and really want to get to my birthday goal of being a 80's girl so I have decided to pull finger and set myself a goal for the week. I am going to exercise everyday this week no matter what! I don't care what sort of exercise it is as long as it is something. I started off well last night with hydro and I have my runners on today for a nice long lunchtime walk, Thursday is hydro again and I may even go and use the treadmill on Friday at work.
The weekend is going to be the killer for me and I am going to have to be extra focused because when I have the kids, I find it very hard to exercise. I do run around with them and what not but I do find it really hard to get out myself even for an hour for a brisk walk or something BUT NOT THIS WEEK PEOPLE!!!
I am aiming for a 900g loss this week to put me under the 92kg mark (I thrive on goals if you haven't noticed).
Right, every goal needs a reward and I have no idea what that will be but I am thinking, thinking, thinking. I'll let you know if I come up with something fantastic :)
I'm off tonight to Reece's school for a meeting with other parents about how teachers teach these days. As an example when I was at school, when learning to read we use to sound everything out but apparently they don't do it like that now and since I am helping him with his homework I figured I'd better find out how it is done these days so I can be doing the same thing his teacher is.
The sun is out in Wellington today - YAY!

Queen's Birthday Weekend
I had an excellent weekend.
Friday night we ended up going to the Cossie Club for our anniversary dinner and the courtesy van picked us up and dropped us home (BONUS!), the food was horrible but Helena and Craig were up there so we had excellent company.
Saturday - Reece's soccer in the morning (they got thrashed - haha) and then I picked Helena up for a girls afternoon shopping expedition and I am happy to report that Helena got lots of goodies and a gorgeous pair of shoes arriving this week (hopefully!).
Sunday - Day at home doing the housework and cooking (curried sausages, stuffed potato's and a HUGE vegetable bake ....yummo!). Played with Reece also for a couple of hours while Adam had a sleep (which we paid for later that night because he wouldn't go to sleep).
Monday - Pottered around home again and then Andrew and I went out and got Adam an electric blanket (Reece already has one) and stopped at muffin break for a coffee and muffin. I tried the Weight Watchers Orange Poppyseed muffin and it was really nice.
That's about it really - not very exciting but sooooooo nice having a 3 day weekend.
Weigh in tonight and I'm not predicting anything, I'll just wait and see.
